![]() ![]() That’s why all Cool Earth partnerships are community-owned and led – an approach that research is continually proving to be the most effective way to keep rainforest standing.īy developing local livelihoods, our mission is to end the cycle of deforestation entrenching villages into further poverty. ![]() As such, they are the forest’s best possible custodians. Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but the most to gain from its protection. And, contrary to the headlines, rainforest continues to be lost at a faster rate than ever. Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 years. ***About Cool Earth (one of our two charities):*** Inspirational, behind-the scenes video. The Cricket Live Foundation is currently operating in three centers in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in partnership with the MJF Foundation, an internally funded Charitable Foundation of Dilmah Tea. The main objective is to bring Cricket to the children of Sri Lanka and India who currently live in underprivileged environments with limited opportunity. The Cricket Live Foundation is a New Zealand based non-profit organisation. Thanks - Jamie, Stephen, Phil - Rickshaw McCaw If you can spare that (or more) it'd be huge for Cool Earth.Īll in, we are shelling out approx 8000 NZD to fly to India, and to enter the race, so please help us make it all worthwhile. In past races, teams have raised thousands by asking everyone to chip in 25 dollars. We have a 1000 NZD (500 GBP) fundraising target for Cool Earth and a 1500 NZD (750 GBP) target for Cricket Live Foundation (must-watch > ( )). While it'll be a helluva fun (but challenging) time, it'll be a HUGE deal better if our charities get a good whack of support before we depart. Temperatures will reach 40deg and our rickshaw will have little in the way of air-con. We'll be doing it on a rickety rickshaw over two weeks, in the hottest month of the year. In April 2018 we'll (Jamie, Stephen, Phil) be travelling 2,600 km, from Cochin to Jaisalmer, India, in a race for charity.
